Victoria Vargas

Director & Creator of The 5th Position Method

Victoria Vargas was born in Maracaibo - Venezuela. As an American citizen, Victoria has made Chicago her hometown for the past 27 years.

Victoria is a Former Faculty at the Official School of The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and has served as a Guest Teacher at national and international ballet schools.

Teaching Ballet has taken Victoria to different latitudes and personal rewards. She has taught in St. Petersburg, Russia, Holland, Spain, Panama, Mexico, Hong Kong, Portugal, Philippines, Morocco and Italy. 

Maylu Peña

Assistant Director / Ballet Instructor & 5th Position Method Coach

After graduation, Maylu began classes at the Nuevo Mundo Ballet Company in Caracas until she moved to the United States in 2011. In the United States Maylu trained, danced and taught for Metropolitan Ballet under the artistic direction of Tatiana Berevova.

Maylu attended Joffrey Ballet School for a Summer Program in New York in a full scholarship, and Joffrey Ballet Chicago on half scholarship. Maylu also received professional training from Ballet Master and former faculty of Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Victoria Vargas.

Maylu has danced professionally and toured state-wide with St. Paul Ballet, Cities Classical Dance Ensemble and Minneapolis Ballet Dancers and is currently a soloist with Continental Ballet Company.

Carlos Cumplido

Composer & Improvisor

Since 2012 Carlos has done several works with Producer Fernando Vacas composing and playing together with the group "Prin La lá" as the soundtrack of the silent film "Nosferatus" for the premiere in the film library of Andalusia.

Carlos specializes as an accompanying pianist in Dance and musical theory applied to dance, where he is recognized in Professional Conservatories of Granada, Cadiz and Seville.

Carlos is recognized for his improvisations and compositions, accompanying great masters such as Jose Carlos Martinez, Carmen Paris, Genecia Kindenlan, Carolina Armenta, Natalia Tapia, Carlos Luis Medina, Juan Polo and Victoria Vargas.

Carlos has worked in various dance and music conservatories. In the year 2015 he premiered his work "Medieval Dance" with the choreography " Metamorphosis" by Margarita López in the final show samples at the Gran Teatro de Falla.
